Who We Are
MEANS – Medical Educational and Nature Service is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to caring for poor, abandoned and ailing elderly people. For more than 15 years, we have been providing shelter, food, medical care and emotional support to elders who have nowhere else to go.
What started as a small initiative with just four bedridden elders has today grown into a compassionate care system supporting over 150 elderly residents across three elders care homes in Hyderabad.
At MEANS, we believe that old age deserves dignity, care and love, not neglect.
Our Journey
MEANS began its journey with a simple but powerful purpose — to ensure that poor and abandoned elders receive the care they deserve, regardless of their financial condition or family background.
In the early years, elders were provided with free shelter and basic medical attention under the guidance of Dr. Gnana Prakash, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for MEANS.
Over the years, through commitment, compassion and continuous service, MEANS has grown steadily. Today, we care for elders suffering from conditions such as paralysis, stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, mental illness and other age-related health issues.
Despite limited resources, MEANS continues to expand its services with the support of donors, volunteers and well-wishers who share our mission.
Founder’s Vision
The vision of Dr. Gnana Prakash, Founder and Secretary of MEANS, has played a crucial role in shaping the organization. His deep concern for the elderly poor and his belief in accessible healthcare for all inspired the creation of MEANS.
His vision continues to guide our work — ensuring that elders are not treated as a burden, but as human beings deserving care, respect and compassion.
